League Rules

1.      All league matches are to be played at Big Oaks Golf Course.

2.     Unless otherwise indicated, we will play from the White tees.
Seniors will play from the Red tees with the following exceptions: South Course hole #3 and East Course hole #9.

3.     Play begins May 7th through September 10th. Tee time is 4:30pm.

4.     League outing will be held on Saturday, September at Big Oaks.

5.     Banquet/cookout will follow immediately after play at the course.

6.     Green fees are $12.00 and carts are $7.00 per person. $25 unlimited golf after 3pm.

7.     League dues are $80.00 and are to be paid to Kelley Eccles or Tom Knaack. Due to many members failing to pay their dues in a timely manner, thus causing out-of-pocket expenses being forced upon Kelley, the following requirements will be strictly enforced: A minimum of $40.00 is due the week after the first position round (6/18/08) and the remaining unpaid balance is due the week after the second position round (7/23/08). Members failing to comply will not be allowed to compete until these terms are met. If a team fails to meet these terms league forfeit rules will be applied (Rules 11. b & 11. c).

8.    Averages:

a)    Averages of the last five adjusted scores, no toss-outs.

b)    Returning players will begin the season with the last five adjusted scores from 2007, excluding the league championship scores.

c)    New players will establish and average after posting three adjusted scores.

d)   Handicaps will be established in accordance to USGA revised rules for 9-hole play.

e)    In following of league tradition, scoring averages will be used to determine match play stroke assessments.

9.     Matches will be based on the 22-point scoring system.

a)    Low average plays low average for 11 points.

b)    High average plays high average for 11 points.

c)    1 point awarded per hole and 2 points for total.

d)   When a player is absent, the playing partner will use his average against both opponents.

e)    When a player is absent from each team, the remaining players will play for 22 points (2 points per hole and 4 points for total).

     10.  Position Rounds:

a)    Within each division: 1-6, 2-5 and 3-4. 7th place teams in each division will play each other.

b)    Any make-up matches prior to a position round will be scored by matching cards of the most recent date when all 4 players were present and according to the players’ averages on that date.

 

11.   Playoffs will be held the final two weeks of the season (8/27 & 9/3).

      a)   The top four teams in each division will qualify for the playoffs.

      b)  1st plays 4th and 2nd plays 3rd in each division.

      c)  Winners play the following week to determine division champs.

      d)   Division winner will play an 18-hole match during the league outing.

      e)   Partners must play together a minimum of 11 matches.

 f)   During the playoffs, both partners must be present. If one player       cannot attend, the opposing player will receive and automatic 6.5 points with the opportunity to earn more points against his partner’s opponent. 

12.   Forfeit Procedures:

      a)  Any team failing to call in by 4:30pm or failing to show up by 5:15pm is

            considered to have forfeited.    

b)  Showing team, at least one player, shall receive 13 points and may play

against the opponent’s average in efforts to better their point total.

c)  Teams that forfeit receive 0 points.

      d)  If a team calls by 4:30pm, then the showing team may match cards the

            following week, or with consent of both teams, reschedule the match.

      e)  If you show up, you are expected to play!!!

13.   Rain-out Procedure is as follows:

                  a)  League vote requiring a minimum of 14 players present.

                  b)  Majority of players present will determine the decision.

c)  If there is an approval vote, an agreement must be reached by both

teams in order to reschedule or match cards the following week. If no agreement is reached, forfeit rules apply.

      d)  “No” vote cancels all matches & cards are matched the following week.

      14.    Make-up Round Procedure is as follows:

                  a)  One make-up round per week.  Exception: see Rule 10.b

                  b)  In the event of multiple make-up rounds, oldest is made up first.

      15.     USGA RULES apply with the following exceptions:

                  a)  Winter rules including rake and place in sand traps.

                  b)  Lost ball is one stroke penalty and does not include Out of Bounds.

c)  USGA rules apply to Out of Bounds, stroke and distance. If there is

any doubt, the opponent may request a provisional ball to be played. If

a ball not deemed to be out of bounds is found to be out of bounds,

player is not allowed to go back and rehit. Estimate the point of entry of

the out of bounds and access a 2-stroke penalty.

      16.    Hazards:

                  a) Lateral hazards are marked by Red stakes. Drop ball within 2 club-

lengths of hazard, at point of entry, no closer to the hole. One stroke

 penalty.

      b)  Water hazards are marked by Yellow stakes. Drop ball anywhere 

 behind the hazard keeping line with the ball and the pin. One stroke

 penalty.

                  c)  Playing a ball within a hazard boundry: Any touching of the ball

 or ground, including when in a sandtrap is a 2 stroke penalty.

      17.    Skins & Par 3’s

                  a)  In the event of rain, all skin money is held over to the next week.

                  b)  In the event of rain, if all players have completed the first par 3, the

 money will be paid and the remaining par 3 money held over to the

 next week.
